Wednesday in Movie

Tiny Furniture
What can I say? I love coming of age stories, and this one is about where I am in life right now: recent grad, don't know where I'm going in terms of career, yada yada yada. I'm generally drawn to the quirkier things in life and this movie seems to be something I might like.

Growing up, my mom and I would rent movies every saturday, started pretty young, like 4th grade, watching not kid movies, but I so appreciate this because it really fueled my interest in movies and finding the good ones that resonate with me. I love story, especially depicted in the silver screen. My mom and I would go into the video store and on purpose find a movie we had never heard of and pick it for it's obscurity. You see a lot of bad movies this way... but for every gem we found it was worth it.

Wednesday in Movie

Ondine

Today got really cold and the cold I caught from this weekend only furthered my exhaustion (shame on me for not getting more sleep, just gotta lotta living to do).

Anyway this movie came out not too long ago and I've been meaning to watch it so when cold meets cold, my mood says yes to this movie. It's labeled in netflix under scifi which I thought was odd... still do now that I think of it. Colin Farrell plays this fisherman who catches not fish but a lady in his net one day. Seems like she just might be a mythical sealion woman and the story goes from there. There's something about movies set in old Irish fishing towns that make me believe a promising story awaits. This movie nearly does that, there's one part that's just too melodramatic that left me thinking "really?" but other than that I really did enjoy this movie.

What a delightful little place to find some solitude, Nest Rest, I thank you kindly. Ha! I love them! Really, that's just rad. What is it about us people that like to be inside something while still being outside. I mean we've been doing this for a while, look at balconies, I mean just recall one so epic as Romeo and Juliette's. Just want to point out that I know they were fictitious characters. Anyway I think these might beat hammocks, this is a bold statement but it's almost like you're personal little cloud and it doesn't look like it's waiting for the right moment to tip you because of your foolish balance and then look about unaware. Put a hammock in a cage with a person, hammock gonna win sucka. Any way I found these on this blog.

Wednesday in Movie

This movie is looking pretty epic, what with a visionary director Julie Taymor, and Helen Mirren and array of other actors, some known, others more “oh that’s the guy from…” I’m not so sure about Russel Brand though but I’m interested to see this move because I’ve only ever known the Wishbone version of The Tempest.

Monday Musings

I believe Nora Kirkpatrick is someone to keep your eye out for. She's a babe and completely talented and a bit of a Jill of all Traits and love me her fashion style.

I first saw her on Dorm-Life, this webshow that apparently only I think is funny but she certainly does give hilarious performances in this short-lived series.

I was then watching a live performance of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and recognized the accordian player in the back. Found out they were playing the next at the Fillmore to a sold out show but I managed to snag myself a ticket.

Maybe you've already heard of her or now you'll start spotting her in shows and magazines

Reason for Abscence

I apologize for the lack of posts... I pretty much was still processing the Sufjan Steven's concert. The concert itself felt like a reunion of sorts, good seeing old faces, listening to beautiful honest music. I could talk about his music and how it resonates with me all day but that will have to be another time.

Monday Musings

I'm feeling a bit inspired today. With projects that is. I've got lot in my head that needs to manifest itself, yes? Yes. First thing's first: a simple button up shirt.
Zooey's prolly one of my all time muses. I love this velvet dress she wears in the movie Gigantic with Paul Dano. I definitely think it would fit into the winter wardrobe of my dreams.

mmm rain. I like to sit by a window and just watch it all day long. It generally puts me in a contemplative mood. Also I love how the rain gives me a good excuse to be the homebody I readily claim to be.

I enjoy hearing just the rain but I pretty much have a soundtrack going all the time and I love to soak up some good music while staying dry.

Question: What music is in the background of your rainy day?

Mine boils down to:
Sufjan, especially his new one, Age of Adz
                               My Brightest Diamond
Feist - let it die or open seson

Wednesday in Movie

It feels like it's been a while since a good ol' wild west movie and since the Cohen brothers have a hand in this one I think we'll all be in for a treat... hopefully... Either way, keep rolling 'em out boys

blankety blank blank

Aren't these blankets just epic? It takes blanket capes to a whole new level. Makes me want to land and perch somewhere.

Question: Do you still have your security blankets from childhood?

I know mine is at my parents house folded away into a cabinet. It was a good one, yellow plaid with the silk ribbon border unattached on one side making it fit perfectly around my neck. It used to be so much bigger according to my memories and now when I look at it, it's practically the size of a tea towel. I love tea towels but that'll have to be a different post completely.

BLACK SWAN - Official HD trailer

This movie seems to be pretty creepy, but ok ok I'm intrigued. I generally like Natalie Portman's movies, I trust you Natalie.

Here's For Starters

I love blogs. The good ones that is. Don't know if mine will be, there's a finesse that just can't be forced. Also, I love bread, just not sour bread, like seriously? my tastebuds just get confused. This is really just a blog that I wish to use to show the things that catch my eye, or things that I'm passionate about, or whatever else falls in the middle. Sorta might turn into a blog about other blogs. Whatev, I never claimed to be original. There are colors and objects and stories and music that just seem to strum my heartsrings and I haven't found a word for it. I'll letcha know when i realize and recognize it, so without further ado, here is my blog: love me some bread
